On the Farm

Your Best Laid Plans

Almost 100% of the time we have our cows calve at home, but this summer has been an exception. We had 5 cows who wouldn't calve till late August, so thinking that we would save money we took them to the pasture so they could  get some good ol' Kansas Grass. Thinking that we had "out thought" mother nature, me and dad were feeling pretty good about our decision. Till we got a call a couple days ago, the man who lives on the property were our pasture is wanted to let us know that we had 2 calves on the ground. Whoops :) So me and dad jumped in the truck to go look at our new babies. We got to the pasture and found the cows, but we couldn't find the calves. Thinking that the Mamma's hid the calves we started walking around, well sure enough we found them. They took off like a march heir! Apparently they aren't used to humans yet. Catching them is going to be a blast! I'll try to upload pictures if I can get close enough to them!

All the calves in the pasture! Getting all the grass they could ever want.
God Bless, Lindsay
